College Students Job Networking Through Social Media:
We are all living in a digital age, with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter dominating web traffic. And with the growth of LinkedIn — “the world’s largest professional network,” as its slogan proclaims — many college students are not only interacting online with friends but also networking with colleagues, classmates and employers as they pursue their career goals.
Jan 18, 2013 … Job experts have said that having a LinkedIn profile in an age of technology is absolutely crucial for college students.
Don’t discriminate just because: You can’t be friends with everyone online, but you’ll never broaden your network if you don’t connect with people outside of your circle and comfort zone.

So it turns out that Facebook isn’t exactly permanently changing the world like everyone thought – or feared.
Not if you pay attention to what college students, the originally intended audience for Facebook, are saying.
Thankfully at least some of them are deciding to turn away from Facebook in favor of good old -fashioned face time. At least for a while.
